The Ramblers are truly one of the best interpreters of traditional Cajun music recording today. The band's sound is authentic and deeply rooted in Cajun traditions and culture. It just doesn't get anymore simple or sweeter than the material featured on this CD. The fourteen tracks are a blend of some great original tunes mixed in with some exceptional versions of Cajun classics. Among the tracks that most impress me are: "Pine Island;" "Le Blues de la Ville Platte;" "North Louisiana Blues;" "Blue Moon Special;" "Popa Lou Hop," and the title track. The Lost Bayou Ramblers are: Louie Michot (fiddle and vocals); Andre Michot (accordion and lap steel guitar); Alan Lafleur (bull fiddle bass); Chris Courville (drums and t-fer), and Jon Bertrand (guitar and background vocals). You don't learn to play Cajun music like the Lost Bayou Ramblers. You're either born with this musical gift or you're not. Thank goodness for the Louisiana music industry that Louie Michot and company have this unique gift to both interpret the music and carve a new and original path that will certainly keep the spirit of this music alive for years to come. The Lost Bayou Ramblers have done Ethel Mae Bourque proud with "Bayou Perdu."
